Evidence of Widespread Contamination in Japan Continues to Accumulate

NHK reports today of more confirmation of plutonium 238 being found in Fukushima plant soil
http://www3.nhk.or.jp/daily/english/14_39.html

this cannot be a surprise given that Uranium 234 and 238  were detected in US air-catridge samples by the EPA in April
http://www.epa.gov/rpdweb00/docs/rert/radnet-cart-filter-final.pdf

Wikipedia explains that "Plutonium-238 decays to uranium-234 and then further along the radium series to lead-206." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plutonium-238

Plutonium is not good for your health nor is uranium and any hot particle inhaled or consumed in food can produce cell damage leading to cancer so the entire absorbed dose rhetoric is a bunch of baloney, as the low level radiation campaign reports

CERRIE Majority Report Chapter 2.1 paragraph 11 ..... "There are important concerns with respect to the heterogeneity of dose delivery within tissues and cells from short-range charged particle emissions, the extent to which current models adequately represent such interactions with biological targets, and the specification of target cells at risk. Indeed, the actual concepts of absorbed dose become questionable, and sometimes meaningless, when considering interactions at the cellular and molecular levels..."

The low level radiation folks clarify: "In other words, where hot or warm particles or Plutonium or Uranium are located in body tissue or where sequentially decaying radionuclides like Strontium 90 are organically bound (e.g. to DNA) “dose” means nothing.  This is massively significant. Official radiation risk agencies universally quantify risk in terms of dose. If it means nothing the agencies know nothing and can give no valid advice...."

In other news, NHK reports: "Radioactive material in sludge at 16 prefectures"

http://www3.nhk.or.jp/daily/english/14_33.html

"NHK has learned that 16 prefectures in Japan have detected radioactive material in sludge since the crisis began at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant in March.

"NHK has found through interviews that at least 22 of Japan's 47 prefectures have been testing sludge for radioactive material. 16 of them, ranging from Hokkaido to Osaka, have actually detected radioactive substances.

"The level of radioactive cesium was highest in Fukushima city, at 447,000 becquerels per kilogram. This was followed by Tokyo at 55,000 becquerels and Maebashi, north of Tokyo, at 42,800 becquerels.

"Last month, the government decided on an emergency measure to incinerate and store sludge that's been found to contain 100,000 becquerels or more of radioactive materials."

"But the measure applies only within Fukushima Prefecture, prompting other prefectures and municipalities to demand that the government quickly set guidelines on how to handle contaminated sludge."

MAJIA HERE: Incinerate radioactive sludge!!! Oh my gosh. What are they thinking? The contamination will become airborne and sicken even more people in Japan and abroad..
